AUBURN, CA (MPG) – The Placer County Office of Education is proud to announce that students, families, teachers and staff members from 26 Placer County schools have been acknowledged by the California Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Coalition for their ongoing, positive efforts throughout the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the Community Cares acknowledgment process.

"Placer County schools consistently rank in the top state and national percentages for test scores, student achievement, college and career readiness and daily attendance," said Placer County Superintendent of Schools Gayle Garbolino-Mojica. "Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, our schools raised the bar even higher to provide innovative systems to support positive school climates even through distance learning. I join the California PBIS Coalition in congratulating these schools in their statewide honors."

The following schools were recognized for their community support during the transition to distance learning during the 2019-2020 school year:

PBIS is one of the foremost advancements in the school-wide system of supports for schools promoting proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting students and positive school climate. PBIS is a tiered approach to systematic behavioral interventions and positive acknowledgment of students enhancing the capacity of schools, families, and communities."‹

The California PBIS Coalition also recognized local Placer County area businesses and community agencies, including the Creekview Ranch PTA, Destiny Community Church, Placer County First Station 100, the Sacramento Sheriff Youth Services Unit, and Wellness Together, for their support of students and the community. The coalition, with the help of various county offices of education, worked diligently to highlight the work of all schools that were recognized as part of the 2020 Community Cares Acknowledgment through a special short film.
