Seeking community input and feedback to refine the draft plan and prioritize actions

AUBURN, CA (MPG) -  Placer County is seeking community feedback to help with the development of a new countywide safety plan for roadway users.

This plan establishes a framework and process for the county to evaluate traffic safety across four priorities: engineering, education, enforcement and emergency services. The plan also assesses the county’s traffic collision trends and makes recommendations for actions to help avoid collisions in the county.

As a living document, a critical component of the Local Roadway Safety Plan is collaboration and feedback with partner agencies and the community. Based on initial analysis from the California Highway Patrol, CAL FIRE and Placer County Health and Human Services, a draft plan outline has been prepared, which includes safety emphasis areas and recommended actions.

The county is now seeking community input and feedback to refine the draft plan and prioritize actions to take moving forward.

Several venues for feedback on the Local Roadway Safety Plan are available. Residents can visit the project website at https://placercountylrsp.mysocialpinpoint.com/ where they will find a pre-recorded presentation, information summarizing the recommendations of the plan and the draft document. Residents can provide feedback via a survey as well as an interactive map.

The county will also host two virtual town halls, one on Jan. 7 for eastern Placer County and Jan. 14 for western Placer. Links for attending the virtual town halls will also be posted on the project website and county social media.

The final plan will be considered for approval by the Board of Supervisors in March 2021. Community input on the plan can also be provided during public comment on the item.

Residents may contact Phil Vassion at the Department of Public Works directly regarding the plan at [email protected]
