AUBURN, CA (MPG) - The Placer County Office of Education (PCOE) is seeking applications from residents interested in being appointed to a vacancy on the Placer County Board of Education, created by the resignation of Trustee Suzanne Jones who was elected to the Placer County Board of Supervisors in March 2020. The unexpired term will end in December 2022.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and a registered voter residing within the boundaries of Trustee Area 1 which covers the areas of Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District, Eureka Union School District, Roseville City School District and Roseville Joint Union High School District. All interested parties are encouraged to review and download the Board Vacancy Area 1 Candidate Application, available online at www.placercoe.org.

Completed applications along with a resume should be submitted to the Superintendent of Schools Office at 360 Nevada Street, Auburn, CA 95603 or via email to [email protected] no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2021. The Placer County Board of Education will be conducting the process to make a provisional appointment at their regular Board Meeting on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 5 p.m. The provisionally appointed County Board Trustee will be required to run in the next election should they desire to remain on the Placer County Board of Education.

The Placer County Board of Education, also known as the County Board, serves a vital role as the elected governing body for selected PCOE program that operate under the authority of the California Constitution, the Legislature and California Education Code. The County Board approves the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) for the county office and its charters, approves the county office budget and serves as the appellate body for inter-district transfer, expulsion and charter school appeals. Additionally, members of the County Board serve as ambassadors for the education system and advocate at the local, state and national levels.
