Applicants sought for Placer County Civil Service Commission

AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Applications are currently being accepted to fill a vacant seat on the Placer County Civil Service Commission. The commission is a nonpartisan public body responsible for policy direction and oversight of a merit system. This system is used for the selection, promotion, and retention of civil service employees in Placer County service, as governed by the County Charter. 

The commission makes final decisions on appeals involving alleged improper action or the denial of any rights provided by the county code and civil service rules. This includes examination and selection procedures, appeals relating to the classification plan, and appeals from disciplinary actions.

Individuals interested in applying to fill this vacancy should have knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration, including recruitment methods, personnel management, and standardization and classification of positions. Additionally, applicants should possess experience with management of the civil service system and the ability to hear and determine appeals or complaints. 

Applicants cannot be employed by Placer County, nor can they serve as an officer of any local, state or national committee of a political party. Additionally, applicants cannot hold office in any partisan political club or organization or be a candidate for an elective office. 

The current vacancies will be filled by applicants who are recommended by the District 4 Supervisor, Suzanne Jones, for appointment by the Board of Supervisors.
