Auburn man convicted of Auburn Public Library stabbing

ROSEVILLE, CA (MPG) - The Placer County District Attorney’s Office announced that Opada Joseph Opada, 35, of Auburn, was convicted by a jury on Nov. 18. The defendant was found guilty of premeditated attempted murder, causing great bodily injury, use of a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon after he attacked two strangers.
On Dec. 10, 2019, the defendant entered the Auburn Public Library in California and stabbed two victims with a knife before fleeing from the area. After an intensive manhunt, the defendant was located and arrested by the Auburn Police Department.
Opada is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 2:30 p.m. in Department 31 at the Placer County Superior Court located at 10820 Justice Center Drive in Roseville.
