PLACER COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Join the Arts Council of Placer County in congratulating and celebrating the 20th year of Colla Voce, a non-profit arts organization based in Auburn.

They began in 2005 as an adult group of chamber singers under Founding Artistic Director Janine Dexter. The goal was to bring professional standards of performance of choral music to the foothills. Since then, the group has grown and expanded their programs, creating a real impact in our community through music. Dexter sums it up well when she says "singing brings depth to life."

Their chamber singer performances receive glowing reviews, and their music docent program volunteers bring classical music and musical activities to 1,000 children in nine local schools.

Colla Voce "creates opportunities for engagement in the arts” with the intent of contributing to the continued development and expansion of the arts culture in the greater Auburn community. Arts benefit our community culturally and economically. Colla Voce is one of the organizations that share statistics from the National Endowment for the Arts, that for every dollar spent on the arts, another $3 in spending is generated. Colla Voce strongly advocates that people who experience a live performance gain a greater understanding of the importance of music and arts in education. They know the importance of the role music education plays in neurological development of children engaged in music.
