PLACER COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (MPG) – Strokes4Hope, one of the Placer County region’s most celebrated charity golf tournaments, announced details today for its 13th annual event, set to take place on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025 at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. Widely recognized for blending competition, community, and purpose, Strokes4Hope has raised over $720,000 since its founding in 2012, with every dollar fueling critical programs for those impacted by breast cancer.

With a goal of raising $100,000 in 2025, this year’s tournament will once again sell out its more than 240 golfer field and bring together sponsors, volunteers, and supporters for a high-energy day that includes golf, food, music and signature traditions like the “pink jacket” chip-off finale. Funds raised will directly support patient services, local scholarships, and breast cancer research, ensuring that proceeds make a measurable impact throughout the Placer County community.

“Each year, I’m humbled by the way our community comes together to honor survivors, support patients, and carry forward the fight against breast cancer,” said Obie Scott, Founding Board Member of Strokes4Hope and the Whitney Ranch Charitable Foundation. “This event began as a way to honor my late wife Debbie’s courageous battle, and it has grown into something bigger than I ever imagined. This event has evolved into a movement that changes lives, funds critical research, and brings hope to families when they need it most.”

Over the past 12 years, Strokes4Hope has provided free wigs through the Sutter Roseville Wig Bank, mobile mammogram screenings through Chapa-De Indian Health, direct family grants for treatment-related expenses, confidence-building programs for women post-chemotherapy, local high school scholarships and research funding led by leading breast cancer specialists.

A key beneficiary of Strokes4Hope is the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and now the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, where world-renowned breast cancer specialist Dr. Hope S. Rugo leads pioneering research and patient care.

Former Director of Breast Oncology and Clinical Trials Education at UCSF and now the Director of the Women’s Cancer Program and Division of Breast Oncology at City of Hope, Dr. Rugo has helped shape many of today’s breast cancer treatments from breakthrough targeted therapies and immunotherapies to innovations that ease the side effects of treatment, such as scalp cooling to reduce chemotherapy-induced hair loss, and immunotherapy as treatment for triple negative breast cancer, the most difficult subset of breast cancer to treat. Her leadership in clinical trials has been instrumental in bringing life-extending therapies to patients worldwide while also focusing on maintaining or improving quality of life during treatment.

“Events like Strokes4Hope are essential because they bridge the gap between the laboratory, the clinic, and the community,” said Dr. Hope Rugo from the City of Hope. “The generosity of this tournament’s supporters is helping us to expand access to clinical trials, accelerate groundbreaking research, and provide compassionate care for patients and families right here in Placer County and beyond. Together, we are giving people facing breast cancer not just more options, but more hope.”

The event is powered almost entirely by local sponsorships, with businesses across the Placer County region stepping in each year to underwrite critical services that touch hundreds of lives.

The tournament sells out quickly each year, but opportunities remain for businesses and individuals to participate through sponsorships, donations, and volunteerism.
