Loomis Soroptimist Education Award Applications Due Nov. 15

In Feb. 2024, students, teachers and community leaders gathered at a ceremony to award the Loomis Soroptimist education grants. Applications for this year are due Nov. 15.


LOOMIS, CA (MPG) - High school and college students as well as elementary school teachers are invited to apply by Nov. 15 for Soroptimist International of Loomis Basin grants. Applications are available at the Soroptimist Loomis website https://www.soroptimistloomis.com/awards/. The Soroptimist mission is to provide women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award of up to $1500 is for women who provide the primary financial support for their families and are improving their skills and employability through a vocational skills training program, community college or undergraduate degree program. Apply through the Soroptimist Live Your Dream portal www.bit.ly/LYDA-apply and select the “Loomis Basin” club.

The Loomis Soroptimist Investing in Dreams Award is for girls at Del Oro High School who demonstrate leadership as community volunteers, especially on projects impacting women and girls. Applicants may be awarded up to $1000, and the award can be used for trade school, community college or other higher education expenses.

The Loomis Basin club’s Dream It, Be It Award is for girls at Confluence West High School, located on the Del Oro campus. The applicant must have participated in the Soroptimist Dream It Be It: Career Support for Girls program and plan to enroll in trade school, community college or other higher education. Up to $1500 in grant funding can be distributed among multiple awardees.

Loomis Soroptimist Teacher Grants are open to Loomis Union School District teachers who plan special projects that enrich students’ education and have lasting impact over multiple years. In the past, these Loomis Soroptimist grants of $100-$300 were used for books, arts, hands-on math, music, theater, gardening and Science, Technology, Engineer and Math (STEM) programs.

The deadline to submit applications is Nov. 15. Applications are on the Soroptimist Loomis website https://www.soroptimistloomis.com/awards/.  The Live Your Dream applications must be submitted through the Soroptimist Live Your Dream portal www.bit.ly/LYDA-apply.

These grants are made possible through the Fiesta Bingo club fundraiser on Nov. 15 and the “It’s in the Bag” Designer Purse fundraiser on Jan. 28, 2026. Learn more the Soroptimist Loomis website.

Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. The club welcomes new members interested in making a difference in our community. Soroptimist International of Loomis Basin is a 501(c)(3) and delivers nutrition education to women at Acres of Hope, supports the Loomis L.I.F.E. senior center, provides education to prevent human trafficking, maintains the Loomis Little Free Library at the Train Depot and is involved in other local and international projects focused on education.
