AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Placer County is seeking community feedback on a potential Affordable Housing Priority Applicant Policy countywide. Staff will be hosting a couple of meetings to hear from residents and answer questions about the potential policy, beginning Sept. 30 in North Lake Tahoe and continuing Oct. 2 in Auburn.
Many jurisdictions throughout California are implementing similar tenant preference policies to help prioritize certain applicant groups for affordable housing to ensure local housing needs are met. Preferences could include local workers, current residents, individuals at risk of housing instability or other criteria.
The public is invited to weigh in and share their thoughts on potential priorities at two upcoming in-person meetings. The first Affordable Housing Priority Applicant Policy Workshop 1 takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.at North Tahoe Event Center’s Evergreen Room, located at 8318 N Lake Blvd. Kings Beach, CA 96143.
The Affordable Housing Priority Applicant Policy Workshop 2 takes place on Thursday, Oct. 2 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Placer County Health and Human Services, Jeff Brown 3 Room located at 11434 B Ave., Auburn, CA 95603
The community will also have the option to share their thoughts about this initiative on the county’s Engage Placer site before November 18 at https://engage.placer.ca.gov/affordable-housing-priority-applicant-policy.
Staff will gather all feedback from the public and present the findings and a recommended policy to the Board of Supervisors at a later to-be-determined date, before final approval and policy enactment.
