Placer Rep’s Storytellers Theater to Perform for First Time in Auburn

AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Opportunities for growth and fun are abundant at Placer Repertory Theater’s “School Tours & Family Theater” program featuring Storytellers Theater, in which trained performers use improv and commedia to turn story reading into interactive theater. This event will take place for the first time on Oct. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the Auburn Carnegie Library.
AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Opportunities for growth and fun are abundant at Placer Repertory Theater’s “School Tours & Family Theater” program featuring Storytellers Theater, in which trained performers use improv and commedia to turn story reading into interactive theater. This event will take place for the first time on Oct. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the Auburn Carnegie Library.
This interactive program encourages elementary students and adult audiences to
participate in the storytelling from their seats or volunteer to perform
onstage to fully engage patrons, provide experiential learning opportunities
and bring literature to life to encourage lifelong readers and learners.
"We are so excited to share this unique storytelling experience for the first time with Auburn audiences,” said T.S. Forsyth, producing artistic director. The Oct. 11 event includes the reading & performance, interactive curriculum and opportunities for the audience to perform on stage and explore “Gingerbread Boy,” a storybook about an outlaw character type who acts contrary to his role in society with willful self-interest.

Future Storytellers Theater performances in Auburn include Pinocchio on Feb. 21,
2026, and a final 2025-26 season story (title TBA soon) for April 25, 2026.
“The cast of professional actors bring the story to life in an interactive, joyful and
engaging way so it is entertaining for both elementary students and adult audiences,”
said lead actor and director Stacey Winn.
Educational topics shared during open discussion may include consequences, critical thinking & perspective taking, character types, dramatic and character arcs, comedy vs. tragedy and a Q&A with the performers.

Season 2025-26 School Tours actors include Stacey Winn (lead), Brittany Cody-
Bays, Jessica Martinelli, Natalie Bordwell and Jessica Ross.
