AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Placer County’s Building Services Division is informing residents, contractors, developers, designers and business owners that the 2025 California Building Standards Code will take effect Jan. 1 as mandated by the California Building Standards Commission.
This triennial code update includes revisions to building, residential, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire, energy and green building standards. All construction permit applications submitted on or after Jan. 1 must comply with the new code requirements.
The state of California has also adopted a new section of the code — Part 7, the Wildland-Urban Interface Code — which establishes a single, consistent set of regulations for wildfire mitigation.
The county encourages all stakeholders to review the updated standards to ensure compliance and avoid permitting delays. The new codes are designed to enhance safety, sustainability and energy efficiency across all types of construction in California.
The updated code is available for review.
