AUBURN, CA (MPG) - The Placer County Treasurer-Tax Collector is reminding property owners to avoid property tax penalties by paying the first installment of property taxes by Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. for the 2025-2026 tax year.
What is the payment deadline? The First Installment of the 2025/2026 Property Tax Bill becomes delinquent after Dec. 10, 2025, at which time a 10% penalty will be added. The 2nd installment becomes delinquent after April 10, 2026, at which time a 10% penalty plus an additional $10.00 cost will be added. Taxes remaining unpaid after June 30, 2026, accrue additional penalties at 1.5% per month (18% annually), plus a $15.00 fee is due at time of redemption. When mailing close to a delinquent date, we encourage taxpayers to request a hand-cancelled timely postmark at a U.S. Postal Office counter.
How do I get a duplicate tax bill? You may download a copy of your property tax bill by visiting our website at www.placer.ca.gov/pay-my-taxes or by calling 530-889-4120, toll free at 888-888-5218.
How can I pay my property tax bill? We are pleased to offer several different payment options to the public: Website: www.placer.ca.gov/pay-my-taxes (up to 11:59 p.m. on the delinquent date, fees apply); U.S. Mail (USPS postmarked on or before the delinquent date); In-Person Counter Service or drop box (by 5 p.m. on the delinquent date).Visit www.placer.ca.gov/pay-my-taxes for details.
