TAHOE CITY, CA (MPG) - Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit is pleased to announce it is extending its evening bus service from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on some routes until 11 p.m. The new spring service schedule begins today and meets the demand caused by increased seasonal ridership to Olympic Valley, Tahoe City, Crystal Bay and Northstar. The schedule will run through June 30 before transitioning to the summer schedule. Residents and visitors in the region can still enjoy TART Connect micro-transit service between zones at night.
"As we get warmer temperatures in North Lake Tahoe, we adjust our spring schedule to add more night service and make more accommodations for folks in the evenings,” said Placer County’s Transit Manager Jaime Wright. “Residents and visitors can still ride TART Connect between zones in the evening, but will now have more options."
New travel options for summer events
New summer services have been added this year to serve popular Tahoe City events, hoping to build off the success of the seasonal winter programs.
Funded by TOT-TBID Dollars at Work and managed by the Truckee North Tahoe Transportation Management Association, Tahoe City Downtown Association and Palisades Tahoe, TART Connect has added additional service to increase public transit use during high-demand events.
Two free shuttle options will support event access and regional connectivity. The Olympic Valley shuttle will offer free parking at Palisades Tahoe with stops at Everline, River Ranch and TART Olympic Valley locations. The West Shore shuttle will serve Granlibakken Resort, Sunnyside restaurant, Homewood Resort and Tahoma.
Shuttles will also support these upcoming events: Tahoe City Food and Wine Classic on Saturday, June 6; Tahoe Joy Fest on Sunday, June 7; Commons Beach Concert Series on Sundays from June 14 through Sept. 6; Fourth of July celebrations from July 3 through July 5.
The new shuttle service program is funded through April 9, 2027.
In addition to service updates, the Truckee North Tahoe Transportation Management Association is conducting a winter commuter survey to better understand travel needs and identify opportunities to improve alternative transportation options. Community members are encouraged to participate and share feedback about their commuting experience and will be entered for a chance to win a $100 Safeway gift card.
