PLACER COUNTY, CA (MPG) -
Placer County Foundation (PCF's) partner Placer People of Faith (PPOFT) is advocating for local funding sources to achieve the County of Placer's goal of building 1,300 new units of affordable housing.

Beth Gonzales, co-executive director of PPOFT spoke recently to the Placer County Board of Supervisors where she urged them to look outside the box to build housing for people who work and serve the people of Placer County.

"Considering the (cold) weather, if we all took a reality check, we slept in warm beds last night. Others were not so privileged, and it is your and our job to build affordable housing," stated Beth.

Placer People of Faith Together, a pioneering interfaith community organizing nonprofit, is very active on the issue of affordable housing. They advocated successfully for the passage of SB4, the Affordable Housing on Faith and Higher Education Lands Act, which provides for streamlined approval of 100% affordable housing projects on land owned by religious institutions and independent entities for higher education. PPOFT followed this win with a day-long educational program that provided a pathway to creating affordable housing on these lands. Eight faith organizations are on the path to building affordable housing on their land.
