Cinema at the State Presents 'Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron'

AUBURN, CA (MPG) - In this DreamWorks Animation film, Spirit, a young mustang, sets out on across the majestic wilderness to regain his freedom and save his homeland. Along the way, he forms a friendship with a young Lakota brave, outwits a squadron of soldiers, and ultimately, finds love. With original music written and sung by Bryan Adams, the film will touch your heart and bring you to the edge of your seat. “Spirit” was nominated for the 2003 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
Sponsored by The Kelty Family in memory of Del Kelty, this animated feature follows the adventures of a wild and rambunctious mustang stallion (voiced by Matt Damon) as he journeys through the untamed American frontier. Encountering man for the first time, Spirit defies being broken, even as he develops a remarkable friendship with a young Lakota brave. The courageous young stallion also finds love with a beautiful paint mare, Rain, on his way to becoming one of the greatest unsung heroes of the Old West.
"Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" is playing at Auburn State Theatre at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 24 at Odd Fellows Lodge, 1226-1/2 Lincoln Way, Auburn. Doors open at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 (includes a $2 fee).
