AUBURN, CA (MPG)
– As peak wildfire season approaches, Placer County residents are invited to the Wildfire Preparedness Expo on July 11, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m, hosted by CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire Department at Station 10 in Auburn.

This free, family-friendly event is designed to equip the community with critical information and resources to better prepare for wildfires, protect homes and strengthen neighborhood resilience.

“This Expo keeps growing because the need is real. This year we’re bringing together more than a dozen agencies and organizations in one place so residents can get straight answers about home hardening, insurance, evacuation planning and more, all in one morning,” said District 5 Supervisor Cindy Gustafson. “Resilience starts with these kinds of connections between neighbors and the experts who can help them prepare.”

Attendees will have the chance to learn about home hardening, fire-safe landscaping, evacuation planning and emergency preparedness, as well as meet with local fire safety professionals and community partners. Fire rescue equipment displays will be on hand, and complimentary BBQ will be available to attendees throughout the event.

“Wildfire preparedness is a year-round commitment, and this expo is one of the best chances residents have to make a real plan,” said CAL FIRE / Placer County Fire Chief Jim Hudson. “Whether it’s learning how to harden a home or simply meeting the agencies who will respond when it matters most, every conversation here makes our community safer.”

Event participants include CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire Department, Placer County Sheriff’s Office, Placer County Office of Emergency Services, Great Auburn Area Fire Safe Council, North Auburn/Ophir Fire Safe Council and Placer County Animal Services. Other participants include Placer County Air Pollution Control District, Placer County Water Agency, Placer Burn Association, UC ANR Fire Network, Bureau of Land Management, California Highway Patrol and California Department of Insurance.

The Wildfire Preparedness Expo is being held at Bowman Fire Station 10 on 13760 Lincoln Way in Auburn. This event will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 11.

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with wildfire safety experts, explore local resources and enjoy a fun, informative day with the family.
