ROSEVILLE, CA (MPG) – Many of the best high school and middle school basketball players in the West will compete in two MADE Hoops tournaments during the next two weekends at the Roebbelen Center located @the Grounds in Roseville.
More than 300 teams, with a few from Canada and Mexico, will participate in the two tournaments combined, bringing several thousand people – including athletes, coaches, family members and fans -- and generating more than $3 million for the Placer Valley economy.
“The MADE Hoops tournaments will bring some of the best basketball players in the West and fill up many hotel rooms and restaurants, and help many other businesses in the community,” said Kim Summers, CEO of Placer Valley Tourism and @the Grounds.
The MADE (Maximizing Athlete’s Development and Exposure) Hoops tournaments allow basketball fans to catch some of the next-generation players at the college level and possibly a future NBA superstar.
“It’s a top circuit, with high-level talent,” said Nate Hendel, Director of Operations for MADE Hoops. “You will see some of the top talent on the West Coast.”
MADE Hoops’ West Nationals, for high school and middle school teams and players, starts 8 a.m. Saturday (July 11) and continues Sunday @the Grounds, 700 Event Center Drive. About 100 teams and 1,000 players are expected for the West Nationals. A two-day pass is $48.
The much-larger West Live Finale, with about 220 boys’ high school teams and 2,200 players, tips off 3 p.m. Thursday, July 16, and continues through Sunday, July 19. Games start at 8 a.m. Friday through Sunday. A four-day pass is $70.

Several Sacramento-area clubs – and their teams and players -- will participate in both tournaments. More basketball players are choosing to play on club teams rather than for their high school squads.
“For some of these (high school) juniors, it’s the last time to play in front of coaches,” Hendel said. “They’re going to leave it all on the line.”
Developing highly recruited, top-notch players starts early, with some elite athletes grabbing attention in middle school. The MADE Hoops tournaments help the best players compete at the highest level.
Several current NBA all-stars – including Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers and the Washington Wizards’ Trae Young – played on MADE Hoops teams. The Dallas Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg, the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, and Sacramento Kings’ guard Malik Monk are also alums of the program.
MADE Hoops has held several large tournaments at the Roebbelen Center during the past few years. The massive building, one of the largest event and sports centers in the West, offers 12 full-size basketball courts.
“The facility is top tier,” Hendel said. “It’s easily accessible and a good destination for our teams. They like the area and the outside-the-gym opportunities.”
And that’s a slam dunk for everyone.
“The tournaments are a huge win and help showcase everything the community has to offer,” Summers said. “Basketball fans can watch some of the top young players while the local economy will also benefit from a big boost in business.”
