TAHOE CITY, CA (MPG) - Tahoe City Public Utility District (TCPUD) is inviting residents, property owners and recreation users to participate in a community survey as part of the Tahoe City Community Center (TCCC) Planning and Feasibility Study.

Survey results will help the TCPUD Board of Directors determine whether to continue exploring the feasibility of constructing a new indoor recreation facility at the Tahoe City Community Center (TCCC) property at 401 West Lake Blvd.  

The Planning and Feasibility Study evaluated three potential recreation facility concepts for the site:

An indoor gymnasium facility featuring a multi-use court/gymnasium, classrooms, flexible programming space and support amenities.

An indoor aquatics facility featuring a lap and leisure pool, locker rooms and support amenities.

An indoor combined aquatics and gymnasium facility featuring both aquatics and gymnasium amenities in a single recreation center.

“Community feedback is essential as the Board considers whether and how to move this project forward,” said TCPUD Board President Gail Scoville. “We encourage everyone to learn about the concepts, understand the potential costs and funding options, and share their priorities through the survey.”

The survey includes planning-level information about each facility concept, including estimated construction costs and potential funding approaches. The information provides important context and is intended to help participants provide informed feedback. No decisions have been made, and TCPUD is seeking community input before determining the project’s next steps.

Community members are encouraged to review the project information and complete the survey by Sept. 7.

TCPUD acquired the 11-acres Tahoe City Community Center property in 2020. Following infrastructure improvements and relocation of the District’s Parks and Recreation Department to the site, TCPUD paused long-term planning efforts while participating in a regional recreation and aquatics study with the North Tahoe Public Utility District. After completion of that effort in late 2024, TCPUD has renewed its focus on evaluating opportunities to meet recreation needs through improvements at the Tahoe City Community Center site.
