TAHOE CITY, CA (MPG) – Finding bus routes and getting around North Lake Tahoe is becoming easier today with the addition of new technology from Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit.

TART has introduced real-time vehicle tracking and trip planning through the TART Connect app and the Transit app, giving riders more tools to plan their trips and follow their bus in real time. Riders can now receive real-time information about their ride, plan trips, view nearby transit options, access step-by-step directions and check schedules. The TART Connect app is available for download on iOS and Android devices.

The new technology is designed to make riding TART more convenient and predictable for residents, employees and visitors by providing easier access to the information they need before and during their trip.

“Public transit works best when it is easy to use,” said Public Works Transit Manager Jaime Wright. “With real-time tracking and trip planning now available, riders have more information at their fingertips and more confidence when choosing TART to get around the region.”

The real-time tracking enhancements come as TART’s fall schedule begins today and continues through Dec. 11. Service updates include night service on the North Shore, TART Connect micro-transit on-demand service ending at 10 p.m., as well as additional buses for popular events throughout the fall.

TART is a public-private collaboration that provides free transit services and connections throughout the Tahoe Truckee region. Riders are encouraged to download the Transit app and review the new fall schedule before traveling.
