LOOMIS, CA (MPG) – Soroptimist International of Loomis Basin invites single mothers going back to school, girls at Del Oro High School who are community volunteers and Loomis Union School District teachers to apply for education grants. Applications are available at the Soroptimist Loomis website https://www.soroptimistloomis.com/awards/.

These grants support the Soroptimist mission to provide women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment, especially those facing significant obstacles.

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award of up to $2,500 is for women who are head of their households and pursuing education to improve their skills and employability. They may be enrolled or accepted into a vocational skills training program, community college or undergraduate degree program. Apply by Nov. 15 through the Soroptimist Live Your Dream portal www.bit.ly/LYDA-apply and select the “Loomis Basin” club.

The Loomis Soroptimist Investing in Dreams Award is for girls at Del Oro High School who lead, initiate, enhance or contribute to community service projects, especially those impacting women and girls. Applicants may be awarded up to $1,500, and funds can be used for trade school, community college or other higher education expenses. Loomis Soroptimist Teacher Grants support Loomis Union School District teachers’ projects that enrich students’ education and have lasting impact over multiple years. In the past, these Loomis Soroptimist grants of $100 - $300 have been used for historical re-enactment, science experiments, hands-on math, books, musical instruments, journalism, wood working and Science, Technology, Engineer and Math (STEM) programs. These grants are made possible thanks to the community support of Soroptimist fundraisers: Fiesta Bingo fundraiser on Nov. 7 and the It’s in the Bag designer purse fundraiser on Jan. 27, 2027.
