AUBURN, CA (MPG) - This office satire about three female secretaries who decide to get revenge on their tyrannical, sexist boss by abducting him and running the business themselves was a massive box office hit.

Join Auburn State Theatre and movie sponsors, the Sugar Plump Fairies – who will be all “Dolly-ed” up – in honoring and celebrating Dolly Parton by attending this award-winning comedy.

The trio, (Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda), one of whom has been passed over for promotion because she is a woman, spend a night together fantasizing about payback scenarios for their slave-driving chauvinist boss. One of them panics the following day when she suspects she really has poisoned the tyrant. In addition to co-starring in the film, Dolly Parton also wrote and performed the film’s iconic theme song, which reached No. 1 on the pop charts.

“9 to 5” is playing at Odd Fellows Lodge #7, 1226-1/2 Lincoln Way, Auburn on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
