AUBURN, CA (MPG) - The Placer County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a nearly $12 million project to install a traffic signal and widen Sierra College Boulevard at Twelve Bridges Drive, advancing a long-planned project designed to improve safety at the busy intersection.
The project is being funded through a partnership among Placer County, the City of Lincoln and the South Placer Regional Transportation Authority. SPRTA will contribute about $6.86 million, the City of Lincoln up to $2.32 million and Placer County up to $2.82 million of transportation development fees. It will not require additional money from the county’s general fund.
The intersection currently has a stop sign for traffic entering Sierra College Boulevard from Twelve Bridges Drive. The intersection meets the criteria for a traffic signal based on peak-hour traffic conditions.
“This project will make an important safety improvement at an intersection that has long been of community concern. I want to thank county staff, the City of Lincoln and the South Placer Regional Transportation Authority for their partnership and efforts to advance this project,” said District 2 Supervisor and Board Chair Shanti Landon.
The county, Lincoln and SPRTA developed a funding plan to accelerate the project in partnership with Bickford Improvement Company, developer of Bickford Ranch, which has agreed to oversee the construction of the project. An agreement with Bickford for the construction is anticipated to be considered by the Board of Supervisors at its next meeting on Oct. 20. The project is expected to begin in 2027.
