Avid readers at Eskaton Lodge Granite Bay are in store for some gangster action in October. Thanks to activities director Dina Jones, the Eskaton book club is more than reading books and discussing their themes, merits or shortcomings. After reading “When the Mob Ran Vegas,” by Steve Fischer, a book requested by resident Louise Honan, Dina added some page-turning excitement for the members of the club.

Dina, who organizes more than 50 activities for Eskaton Lodge Granite Bay residents each month, reached out to the director of content at the Mob Museum in Las Vegas. She asked if someone from the Mob Museum would come Eskaton and talk about organized crime and law enforcement in Las Vegas and share real-life stories of about the Mob and G-men, those special officers in law enforcement agencies.

Jeff Burbank, content development specialist for the Mob Museum, is coming all the way from Las Vegas to give a special presentation on October 19, 2016.

This isn’t the first time Dina has gone above and beyond to provide a rich experience for Eskaton residents. Earlier this year when the club members completed reading “Breaking Out of Bedlam,” by Leslie Larson, Dina contacted the author and set up a skype session with Miss Larson to chat about her writing, books and future projects.

“Dina’s enthusiasm creates a wonderful, fun environment for our book club and always encourages us to reach for the sky,” says resident Abby Rivera. “We feel comfortable selecting any genre and know Dina will make it a special event.”

The public is invited to Mr. Burbank’s presentation about the Las Vegas Mob Museum, to be held on Wed., Oct. 19, at 1 p.m., at Eskaton Granite Bay, 8550 Barton Rd., Granite Bay, CA. Space is limited, RSVP required. Please call Pamela Dallas at 916-789-0326 to reserve your seat.
